On Wednesday 9 February 2012, Uruguay deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents.
Apostille (pronounced a-pos-TEE) is a french word that means ‘a certify’. A certificate issued under the Apostille Convention authenticating the origin of a public ￼￼￼￼￼document.
Both Uruguay and the United States follow the “Hague Apostille Convention” according to which, documents with an apostille are entitled to recognition in any other Convention country.
